Put your genealogy research to work to tell your Ancestor's unique story. Make a keepsake for future generations with this do-it-yourself Ancestor Trading Card Template. It is a PowerPoint template with custom placeholders which make it easy to click-and-add the photos and details of their lives. All text is editable so you can customise it to fit your Ancestor's extraordinary life.
Use your copy of PowerPoint, the template and included instructions to create a one-of-a-kind gift for close relatives, a family reunion giveaway or a treasure to keep for yourself. Use the placeholders to add:
– a photo
– key statistics (birth, date, marriage and other important dates)
– mini-family tree
– a brief story, summary, poem, quote or information that captures your ancestor's story
The template size is 3.5" x 5" and designed to print two-sided with four cards to a page. Use the front of the card as a guide to cut out the individual cards with a paper trimmer, scissors or ruler and craft knife. The finished product will be a card that is almost twice the size of a standard deck.
It is easy to get started. You can use the default design or customize as required. For the default design, install the suggested fonts, open the file, and you are ready to go. REQUIRED SOFTWARE
I have created the template using Microsoft Office 2016 on Windows 10 with two non-system fonts – Bebas Neue and Cabin.
To edit the template and create your own set of Ancestor Trading Cards you will need:
– Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 or Office 365. Compatible with Windows and Mac OS
– Acrobat Reader (or a similar) to view the Quick Guide. Acrobat Reader is free to download at https://get.adobe.com/reader/
– File compression/decompression software (WINZIP or similar)
– Fonts: Bebas Neue and Cabin (links included in the Guide PDF)

PRODUCTION TIPS
The Ancestor Trading Card template has been designed to be printed, two-sided with four cards to a page. Save as a PDF and use the Acrobat Reader printing options to print multiple pages on one page. Suitable for printing at an office supply store, local print shop or home. See printing tips in the Guide PDF.
I recommend using white or off-white cardstock. My choice is either a 160gsm (60lb cover) or 200gsm (80lb cover).
